Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Samus Rocks!
I gotta point out I wasn't expecting much; I hate 1st person shooters with a passion. But I spent hours playing the original Metroid waaaayyy back in the days of the original Nintendo (remember entering those long codes you had to write down before someone invented memory cards?)
So what the heck - thought I'd see what Samus has been up to since then...
I'm impressed! All the original modules Samus can build into her suit are still around: the power ball, bombs, missiles, wave beam, ice beam, grappler, suit upgrades etc. Plus a few modern expansions like the Plasma gun.
The plot is similar to the first; space pirates are trying to develop the Metroids as biological weapon. They've even rescued Ridley from the first game, fixed up his broken body (that you thought was dead) with bionics (Kraid is nowhere to be found...) You have to try to put an end to their plot while picking up new suit modules and power-up items, giving you access to previously unavailable areas and new combat abilities.
The game play is very smooth for a shooter; very good game control given the 1st person persepective (maybe its me, but I find it easier to control 3rd person perspective characters rather than 1st).
The graphics are highest quality and your opponents varied enough to avoid repetition.
Metroid Prime is lousy for beginners; the game begrudges every missile upgrade and obtaining suit modules an hours long quest. it had me screaming at the TV in frustration; then restting the console to try again - always the sign of a good game!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Metroid Blasts Samus Back Into The Nintendo Gamecube
Yes, ladies and gentleman. Samus is now by her lonesome on the Nintendo Gamecube. We have seen her in Super Smash Brothers Melee, but she truly shines as a solo act. This first-person action-adventure is jam-packed with the imagination and innovation that has made Nintendo-based games so popular and best-selling. Samus Aran uses all her skills from previous Metroid hits to bring us a 3D story that is bound to have us amused and glued to our TV sets. She thrives in the amazing 3D environments, the best graphics i have seen on the cube since Star Wars came out last year. The frames are basically flawless, and the backround simply brings the game to life. The morph ball, the missiles, the big ball shooting thingy, it is all here. along with some extras, such as 3 visor modes and the spider ball, this game is challenging and worth your money. buy it today, before it runs out of sight! Game of the year, baby, game of the year! if u own the cube, u got to get Metroid Prime. With its amazing replay value, tons of antics, a great control system, and hidden secrets within every corner of the game, there is no end to the fun. It also comes with an old Metroid title built into the game itself! so u get a great game along with some much hype and inventiveness.
    1) it is one player, so u get to explore planets in first person to take advantage of the gamecube's cababilities.
    2) there are three visor modes, scan, IR, and another one, which gives u a cool twist within the gameplay.
    3) the graphic frame-rate is incredible. it works in perfection. the flow of the game is right on target.
here are some reasons to get the game. so what are u waitin for, go get it dawg!

Rating: none - i kind of hate it
i dont know about this game. it looked kewl but when i bought it and played it, i just hated it a little. it was pretty hard and when u play it's mostly dark so u cant see that well while ur playing the game. this game depends of what type of game u like. this is for those that like shooting.
