Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good translation of the card game I find that this Gameboy game gives a good translation of the Pokemon CCG mechanics. While it does feature some cards that aren't available in the real card game, it does capture many of the elements quite well. I like how each win is rewarded with booster "packs" of cards - allowing you to build more decks. Sometimes you need to play opponent's more than once but it is a good way to work out the kinks in your own deck. I also like that it allows you to build and save decks of your own, as well as to build the decks that you faced at each of the various game centers. I only gave it four stars because, like any game you play against a computerized opponent, your opponent's can only "think" and "play" under preset rules. A living opponent would prove more of a challenge. Then again, find a friend with their Gameboy and a copy of the game and a cable link AND then you can battle a living breathing opponent. It sure is cheaper than hunting down the cards. If only they'd expand this in a future version with more of the game cards (more stuff from Fossil, Jungle, Team Rocket...) Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Gameboy Pokemon TCG is really fun! This game is awesome! There are so many things that it includes its awesome. You can get all the promo cards, regular set cards and other cards that aren't even available in real life. This game sort of follows the regular pokemon game, you have to go around to "clubs", just like the gyms, and fight leaders. You also get 2 booster packs if you beat someone. You can battle certain people in Dr. Mason's lab to get just energys, and you can have your own decks built. You save lots of money to have MORE fun to play it on the Gameboy. If you have a link you can duel your friends. If you don't have a link, you can still actually trade like in real life. You loose the card you trade, but you will get one back from your friend using the COMM port. There is also something called Card Pop!, where you each get a card but you don't loose any. The graphics in this game are also pretty amazing for being on the Gameboy. The cards look exactly like they do in real life. This game follows all the rules except for one, and that is if you don't have basic cards in your deck, you just re-draw and nothing happens. This is a really great game, and I suggest you get it! Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - what a piece of crap! If you own this, you're a nerd and should be killed for being one. |
